Maintenance Services
Our maintenance programs keep your system(s) running efficiently. Like any mechanical device, air conditioning systems break down after years of use. When that happens, you will want qualified air conditioning repair technicians to service your AC system.
Cherokee HVAC’s trained and certified HVAC technicians can perform AC unit repair on all makes and models of cooling and heating systems. Our service vehicles are all well-stocked, so that we can get your system up and running as quickly as possible
We service all major brands.
Preventative Maintenance
Preventative Maintenance, or PM as it is known in the industry, should be performed semi-annually. Your investment in HVAC equipment is substantial and the investment warrants maintenance in the same manner as you would maintain your automobile. Maintenance includes:
- chemically cleaning the condenser coil,
- checking the high voltage to ensure that it is within specification,
- checking the low voltage control system,
- checking the energy consumption,
- checking the starting electrical system,
- inspecting the filters,
- checking the refrigerant charge,
- and visually inspecting the system.
Over time, your system becomes less efficient as a result of reduced heat exchange in the outdoor [unit]. A dirty coil will not exchange heat properly because the dirt acts as insulation. Dirt on the condenser coil prevents the heat exchange from taking place. This makes the compressor work harder with higher than designed head pressures. Adding refrigerant to a dirty system is likely to result in an overcharge of refrigerant. The excess refrigerant can make its way to the compressor, where there compressor will fail when it encounters liquid instead of vapor.
A system that is cleaned regularly will run at reduced amperage draws and will run more efficiently as a result of increased heat exchange at the condensing unit. The compressor will run for shorter cycles, as well, which results in reduced energy costs.
Cherokee HVAC’s Preventative Maintenance includes:
- Check and CHEMICALLY clean condenser
- Check high voltage to ensure it is within specifications
- Check control voltage
- Inspect capacitor(s)
- Install algae tablets
- Clean primary and secondary drain lines
- Check operating pressures for proper refrigerant charge
- Monitor air conditioning cycle and adjust blower components
- Lubricate moving parts, where applicable
- Monitor voltage and amperage draw on compressor
- Monitor voltage and amperage draw on outdoor fan motor
- Inspect Contactor
- Check and tighten loose electrical connections
- Check inside cooling coil, if accessible
